In the real estate boom days a few years ago, anyone with a pulse and a credit score over 500 could be a bona fide mortgage borrower. Everything was BEAUTIFUL, and real estate values were set to keep appreciating at a 15-20% clip. Why, anyone could start with nothing but desire, flip a few homes, and be on the way to the Good Life! Or, so it seemed.
